Male Brazilian Wax: What to Expect, Benefits and Aftercare

A male Brazilian wax removes pubic hair from the root using wax. How much hair is removed can be adjusted to your preference — the point is not that every man should want the same result.

If you are considering your first Brazilian wax, the useful questions are usually practical: what will it feel like, how do you prepare, how long will it last and what happens afterwards?

Why choose waxing instead of shaving?

Waxing removes the hair from the root rather than cutting it at skin level. That generally means a longer period before the hair becomes visible again and avoids the immediate stubble that comes with shaving.

Some men simply prefer the smooth feel or appearance. Others find maintaining the area with a razor inconvenient. These are grooming preferences rather than health requirements — pubic hair itself is normal and is not inherently unhygienic.

Will the hair grow back finer?

You may notice changes in how regrowth feels over time, but it is better not to promise that waxing will permanently make hair finer or sparser. Hair growth is influenced by the individual follicle and natural growth cycle, and results differ between people.

What happens during the appointment?

We begin by confirming what you want removed and answering any questions. Hair needs to be long enough for the wax to grip, so avoid shaving or trimming it very short beforehand. If some trimming is required, we can take care of it.

Wax is then applied and removed in manageable sections. Intimate waxing requires different positioning during different parts of the treatment, and we explain what is needed as we go rather than expecting you to know.

Your comfort and consent continue throughout the appointment. If you need a break or want something changed, say so.

Does a Brazilian wax hurt?

There is some discomfort because the hair is being removed from the root. How it feels varies from person to person and from one area to another.

For many clients, anticipating the first appointment is worse than the appointment itself. Subsequent sessions may also feel more familiar simply because you know what to expect.

What if I get an erection?

An involuntary erection can happen during an intimate waxing treatment. Touch, warmth, nerves and physical stimulation can all produce automatic body responses.

There is no need to be embarrassed or apologise. It does not change the professional nature of the treatment. We deal with it calmly and continue where practical.

How long does a Brazilian wax last?

Hair grows in cycles, so there is no exact number of weeks that applies to everyone. Many clients find somewhere around four to six weeks works well for maintenance, while others need a shorter or longer interval.

You do not have to book according to a fixed timetable. See how your hair grows back and choose a frequency that suits you.

Brazilian wax aftercare

Temporary redness, tenderness or small bumps around the follicles can occur after waxing. For the first day or two, treat the area gently and avoid unnecessary friction or products that irritate your skin.

If heavy exercise, heat or sweating tends to aggravate freshly waxed skin, allow it to settle before returning to those activities. Once the initial sensitivity has passed, regular gentle exfoliation can help manage dead skin around regrowing hairs.

Ingrown hairs can still happen. Exfoliation and sensible skin care may help manage them, but no aftercare routine can guarantee that you will never get one.

Does removing the hair help with hygiene and odour?

It can. Hair itself is not unhygienic, but the groin is warm and prone to sweating. Sweat is initially largely odourless; much of the familiar body odour develops when secretions interact with bacteria on the skin. Hair can also retain sweat, oils and odour close to the body.

For men with heavier pubic or buttock hair, removing the hair can make the area easier to wash, wipe and dry thoroughly — particularly between the buttocks — and many clients notice less lingering odour as a result. That is a practical hygiene and comfort benefit, even though waxing is not medically required for cleanliness.

So the distinction is important: natural pubic hair is not “dirty”, but being hair-free can make personal hygiene and odour management easier for some men.

Male Brazilian waxing does not say anything about your sexuality, masculinity or who you are. It is simply one grooming option.
