Ashley - Senior Barber

Hey Friends, my name is Ashley, I have been Barbering since I was 15 years old – so just a few sleeps since I first started. Anything over a decade just makes you part of the furniture, right?

I love the art of different styles of men’s hair; not every cut works for everyone. My favourite haircut is probably a skin fade on the sides with any style on top, just because of the sheer clean fresh cut and the graduation in the taper that blends all levels of hair together, it’s quite rewarding in the finished product.

I am a wife and mum to a little boy – Oliver. I love fishing, camping, motorbikes, 4wd’s, my dream car is a dodge challenger, scotch on the rocks is my go-to drink but don’t mind a dirty martini here and there and I’m F#*king petrified of birds.

Before becoming a Barber, I originally wanted to be a hairdresser or a police officer. A policewoman was out of the question, as I'm an asthmatic, so hairdresser it was. In searching for an apprenticeship, I applied at possibly every hairdresser in Toowoomba – safe to say a lot of them didn’t want a 15-year-old. So, it was suggested to me by my father to try a Barber- in what, my comment to that was, “what the F#*K is a Barber?”

Within the next 2 weeks, I got a job at and completed my apprenticeship in one of Toowoomba’s largest and most well-known barbershops. While there, I trained a lot of other aspiring barbers that came through the doors and I continued to love making gents feel better about themselves, just by giving them a simple haircut and ear to listen to them! After 8 & ½ years at that same place, my father (owner of Core Benefits Toowoomba) asked if I’d be interested in adding a barber to his business and expanding his forever-growing list of services aimed to help men in all departments including men’s grooming, health, and wellbeing.

So here I am, many years later working with my dad, and safe to say it’s exciting to be a part of something that is the first of its kind in Toowoomba. I love watching Core Benefits Toowoomba grow, and continuing to create relationships and friendships with our customers for many more years to come.
